UPDATE: 3/15/20 Services/Activities Canceled
Category : Events
Dear Church Family,
As you are aware, the situation with the COVID-19, Coronavirus, is a very fluid situation, seeming to change second by second. As I said in the last update, the Elders and I have been monitoring the situation very closely in order to make the right decisions in keeping our church safe, as well as honoring our local government and loving our neighbors.
I spoke with the Eastford Emergency Service leader last night who strongly encouraged us to cancel services completely for this Sunday. Thus, while we are not obliged to cancel, or legally prohibited from gathering, in order to honor our governing authorities (Romans 13:1-7), we have decided to cancel all services and activities tomorrow, March 15th, 2020.
I will, however, be holding a Facebook Live devotional tomorrow morning at 10:30am which we would strongly encourage you to “assemble” (Hebrews 10:25) for. You will find the link for this on the EBC Facebook page. If you do not use Facebook, we will post links to the recordings after on the church website and Sermon Audio and send them through email.
In terms of what we will do for future services and events, we are simply going to take this situation one day at a time (James 4:13-15) and make decisions as the Lord leads. We understand this may be frustrating, so we would ask for your patience and understanding (Ephesians 4:2). We will post updates as quickly and frequently as we can through email, the church website and social media.
I will be available throughout the week, so please feel free to contact me. If you, or someone you know is in need of any assistance during this time, please email myself, Sarah, one of the Elders ,or one of the Deacons.
Again, please pray for physical healing for our nation, but more importantly, that God would use this situation for the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Grace and Peace,
“The LORD is my light and salvation, whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
