Missions Conference: The 2018 Missions Conference is this weekend, April 21st & 22nd, Reaching New England: Proclaiming Christ to our Neighbors. Guest speaker Jared C. Wilson will share his passion for the local church. Join us for dinner, at 4:30 P.M.,the opening session from 5:45-7 P.M., and breakout sessions from 7:15-8:15 P.M. on Saturday evening. Come back Sunday morning for more breakout sessions during Sunday School and another session during the worship service. Together we’ll learn how to reach those who are already around us!
Nursery Volunteers: We are looking for volunteers to serve in the nursery Saturday, April 21st, in the evening during the Missions Conference. Ideally, 4 volunteers (2x 5:45-7:00 PM, 2x 7:00-8:15 PM) so that nobody is in there for the whole evening. If you are willing to serve in this way, please email Lauren Skiff at firstname.lastname@example.org
Hosts Needed: We are looking for 3 people to host our Missions Conference speakers for lunch on Sunday afternoon. If you would be willing to do this, please let Amanda know so she can make a list. Thank you!
New Women’s Bible Study: The women’s group started their new study on April 4th. The opening lines and chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil—all through the power of His Word. In these 10 sessions of verse-by-verse study, we will dive into the first 11 chapters of Genesis by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. Teaching videos are key in understanding this study. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge your basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator. The cost of the book is $15 and there will be a sign up sheet in the foyer. For questions contact Joan Barlow or Jacki Budd.
Trash Pickup Day: Due to the inclement weather, this event has been postponed to this Sunday afternoon, April 22nd.We will be gathering for lunch at CCE at 12:30 pm, then going out to pick up trash along our roadsides. Afterward we will meet for Ice Cream! Please join us as we work together to help our community! We will provide gloves and trash bags as well as a meal for lunch. Please contact Herm Barlow for more information and to let him know if you are interested in helping.
Young Adult Hiking Trip to Monadnock:On May 12th young adults will be hiking Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire. We will meet at Julia Budd’s house at 8:30 AM and carpool. Hikers should plan to bring their own water, lunch, and snacks. We will stop for ice cream on the way home. Text Julia Budd to let her know if you plan to join (860) 634-3012. High school seniors through 20-somethings are all welcome!
Senior Saints Event: On Thursday, April 26th at 1PM the seniors will be gathering in the Library room at Church for an afternoon Tea. The guest speaker will be Irma Stoll, who will be sharing some experiences from her Mission work in Brazil. Please bring a food item to share (i.e. finger sandwich, cookies, or other more imaginative tea type goodies).
Work Day Help: Saturday morning, April 28th, Crystal Pond Park (formerly known as Nahaco) is having a cleanup day. We would like to encourage our church family to participate, helping the town and meeting our neighbors. If enough people volunteer, we may be taking down a couple of small buildings which are no longer needed, or re-roofing a small building. Contact Herm Barlow if you are interested in helping or for more details.
VBS Planning Meeting: The next VBS (PreK-6th) planning meeting will take place Sunday, April 29th, after service in the library. If you are serving in VBS or would like to serve, please plan on attending this meeting.
Membership Class: Pastor Howard will be offering a membership class for those interested in membership at EBC on Saturday, May 5th at 10:00AM. A light breakfast and childcare will be provided . If you are interested in membership or need a refresher, mark your calendar and come on out!
Community Summer Sports Camp Opportunity: Eastford Baptist will be teaming up with the Eastford Congregational Church and Living Proof Church in Ashford to host the “Uncharted Waters” ministry, which is a community sports camp from July 23-27 at the Eastford Elementary School. We are looking for approximately 4 volunteers to help with this event during the week as well as hosts to house the ministry leaders (college age men and women) who will leading the camp. This is a great opportunity to serve the community and spread the Gospel! If you are interested, please sign up in the foyer.
